No sewing this weekend. I just didn't have the energy. I organized all of my scraps instead. The small scraps were cut into 5" by 7" and 6" by 9" for making little zippered bags. The big scraps were folded around my quilting ruler so that they were all the same size. I love the way they're sitting so prettily in my old bathroom cabinet.
I bagged up the pieces that were too small to cut a 5" by 7" square out of. Has anyone ever used these for pillow stuffing? I hate to throw it all away.
I think I could make an entire wardrobe out of just scraps!
I recently used up almost all my small scraps stuffing some blocks that I made out of bigger scraps. I made the blocks for several friends and family that were having or had babies. So I didn't want them really firm and the scraps of wool, cotton and fleece that I used are safe for baby, washable, and saved landfill space because they didn't go there. ;)
ReplyDeleteI did try using scraps years ago for stuffing a pillow that I wanted to be firm and it ended up lumpy but if you want something softer they work great.
What a sweet little cabinet! and a great way to display scraps which are usually a nuisance to keep.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a wonderful idea!
I haven't used scraps as pillow stuffing yet -- I just keep collecting them, sorted by color families in shoebox-size plastic bins, plus an additional tub for pieces that are smaller than I will reasonably use and still I keep holding on.
